• Solution: Provide wireless platform traffic capabilities for a Scada system and regular TCP/IP protocol usage while establishing a more simple automatization, administration, and compilation of a data system between the Hydroelectric plants of Pariac.

Geographical Description

Pariac is a province in Huaraz which is a department in Ancash. Located left of the Pariac river its 3,337 meters above sea level in the Macashca community. The plant consists of 5 centrals that provide electricity to their main network. The Hydroelectric complex in Pariac takes in water from the Pariac river, this complex is made up of 4 plants that are located in a cascade formation.

Project Description

To achieve the projects objective, a wireless platform was implemented in the 2.4GHz band with the Pre-WiMAX ISP-CPE500. With this four hydroelectric centrals will be able to become interconnected. By being all interconnected this will allow anyone in those 4 centrals to allow monitoring and sensory control of all cameras and machines that work with PLC.

All this is under an authentication system of encrypted data and access lists that make the wireless network to be under security measures that only allows users on the network with the correct authorizations to access it.

Benefits:

 NETWORKING
  • Interconnected Administrative Offices: The administrative personnel of CAHUA S.A can share information between each other and access a database on their servers avoiding the redundancy of files, programs, and peripherals.
 WIRELESS NETWORKING (WLAN)
  • High Performance Wireless Platform: The platform is able to give wireless connectivity to every LAN on the hydroelectric central with a high level of security (Encryption and LAN segmentation) assigning a specific bandwidths to the network.
 SERVICES
  • Data, Voice, and Video over TCP/IP: The hydroelectric centrals are able to provided services in the range of data, VoIP, and video eliminating communication limitations making data sharing between computers.
 FUTURE BENEFITS
  • Superior Upgradable technology for Perú: The Wireless Base Station has capabilities to be upgraded to WiMAX technologies or swappable with other frequencies not yet licensed.

  • Video Surveillance: Video network security integration in a wireless platform. This will provide monitoring system that will be accessible remotely from another hydroelectricity central.
