Florida, USA. – October 29th 2009, NETKROM (www.netkrom.com), a leading company in the field of long range wireless networks, equipments and video surveillance solutions, transit control, radio communications, inter building connectivity, e-government, digital cities, wireless ISP, Internet and rural telephony announced that Cerro Verde Association of the Cerro Verde Mining Society, a company that belongs to Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold International Corporation, has selected NETKROM Technologies’ technical proposal for the deployment of a video surveillance system with a wireless transmission platform to benefit the Arequipa Municipality, this deployment will help with public security in the city of Arequipa.

Cerro Verde Association selected NETKROM Technologies after doing a very exhausted evaluation among several outstanding companies from the technology and security field. Cerro Verde SAA, is a company that performs extraction activities as well as mineral production such as cooper in the department of Arequipa.

Arequipa, the second most important city in Peru is located to the southwest of the country, it is in front of the Pacific Ocean. Due to its geographical location it has converted into a commercial center of the south part of Peru, it is well known its mining and agricultural activities, also for the tourism being developed there.

The deployment of the video surveillance project is conformed by a total of 20 cameras in the first stage, of a total of 50 camres, These cameras are located in Arequipa downtown, in the main avenues and intersections, as well as in the main square of the city. The interconnection of the 20 camaras will be using wireless point to point links, and we be using Netkrom Multiband MB-ROMB backhaul systems, which allows the total camera interconnection to the monitoring center. In the second stage it is considered to have all 50 video surveillance cameras, covering most parts of the city.

Thanks to the coverage and to the wireless technology it is based on, the video surveillance system will bring security personnel a high grade of response time against vandalism or thief, due that images are visualized and recorded in real time, also this will bring citizens confidence when walking on the streets without the fear of suffering from assaults .
